I finally got the Christmas decorations up. I decided not to set up my little tree again this year. What's the point? We don't celebrate Xmas, no party at my house, and DH cannot care less about any decoration. So only the very basic stuffs.
We live in a townhouse, so we try to use the same kind of lights on the front porch, so it looks nicer. I had some of these lights for years, they still look great to me.
This is the wreath on the front door. I like the simplicity of the prelit wreath, just added a simple bow for some highlight.
Here is the other wreath on the kitchen door. I made it a couple of years ago, and since we have a very nice storm door, this one has been kept very clean, and all the decorations are still sparkling.
This is my little snowman! This small window faces north, also inside the porch, so it's very dark all the time. None of my plants could survive there. So, I just put seasonal decoration there. My neighbor's little boy cannot pronounce some words correctly yet, so he calls it "Noman"! Very cute!
I switched out my crystal bowl with this cutie! We have a small concole table near the front door, where we can drop off the keys and bags. This little moose bowl is a little bit small, but it's just for the holidays, we can live with it for a month.
We don't have a fireplace, so the living room closet door is the only place I can hang a stocking. Got this one years ago from TJMaxx, and still love it.
I bought two nutcrackers years ago, they were on the dining table with all the blooming flowers last winter, but I think they look nice on our new TV stand, next to our new TV. We need more decoration in the living room anyway. BTW, can you really crack a nut without demaging it?
These are some pictures of AK's big Macabre Paph. It just started blooming, and there are two more spikes coming out. This is the biggest slipper I have seen so far, it's about 4" wide, and it's still not totally opened! AK said he will give me some when he devide it later, but I doubt I can take care of it. I almost killed the other one he gave me. Slippers are just too picky for me. I am pretty good with plants, I have 30 different kinds of orchids, 8 different jasmines, gardenia, succulents, and lots of other plants, total more than 60. And some of them are huge. My norfolk pine tree is about 6ft tall, 4.5" in diameter, and my palm is about the same size, just a little bit shorter. My dining room and spare bedroom are like greenhouse, but I just don't think I can handle slippers. Cymbidiums, Dendrobiums, Oncidiums, Phals, even Cats are doing pretty good. Guess the slippers just don't like me that much! :( AK is really great with slippers. We have seen lots of pictures on this blog about his orchids. He doesn't only have the green thumb, he has the magic thumbs. OK, enough talking, here are the pictures of the new one.
Your home is as beautiful from outside as it is from inside.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Eleni. It will be prettier in a couple of weeks, when more of my orchids start blooming. I will post more pictures then.
